-Baron and Baroness-

Tourney season is in full swing and we know Rivenoak has been well represented.
Grania's work is such that it is hard for us to get to as many events as we would like,
but we will be attending the West/AnTir War. We would be pleased to host
a Baronial Encampment for those that are interested.

Although our next event is months away, we look forward to sharing camaraderie
and good times with our most excellent Barony. Remember to drink lots of water,
use bug spray, and most of all HAVE FUN!!!!

Long Live Rivenoak!
Yours in humble Service,

Rowan and Grania

To the Baronial populace:

In many years past, I attended events with my horses. At that time there were
no "SCA horse rules" or competitions. Things have changed and now there are
equestrian tournaments at some events, as at this year's June Crown. Along with
the fun stuff, there are more regulations and now a rider must be authorized
by the Equestrian Marshal in order to be on horseback.

I personally feel that horses at events make them more 'period' even if there
aren't competitions. We live in an area which has many wonderful horse facilities that
are available to the public; the trails and arena at 5 mile and the arena in Durham,
just as an example. I would like to see Rivenoak have its own equestrian group
and have horses at our local events.

There are a lot of interesting activities in the West Kingdom Equestrian guild
that will be demonstrated at this years June Crown. There are ways to be involved,
even if you don't own a horse. If you'd like to know more or would like to be part
of a Baronial Equestrian group please contact me.

In your service,

Lady Etain of Brackenwood

Greetings from the A&S mistress,

Arts and Sciences Nights fall on the third Tuesday of every month at 7 pm.

Arts & Sciences for June:

We are continuing doing wall-hangings that will eventually grace the Baronial pavilion.
I appreciate the Barony's ongoing support. We'd love to see more team projects, and we'd
also love to hear suggestions about what our next project should be. I especially appreciate
the attendance and support of the officers of the Barony.

Please contact me if you have any questions or comments.

(if back in town in time)

- From the Chronicler -

I would like to request that any other Officers Or Populace who wish to do
a monthly running column- Please feel free to do so!!!!

I have 'fun' trying to make this all look good with what little I manage to come up
with to put into it....

Also: Please consider sending in articles, pictures, cartoons, letters, comments, etc.,
to be published in the Quill.
The input of the populace is always welcomed! After all,
this is the Barony’s Newsletter- thus Barony members are henceforth encouraged
to make use of it! If anyone has anything they would like to get printed the deadline
is always the last Friday before the Meeting (which is the second Tuesday of the Month).

As always: Please let me know of changes/errors so that I may get them corrected.
Thanks to those who have pointed out errors and/or given me the correct info!
